Northwinds was founded by Terry Schaedig in 1997 and from that time has been dedicated to assisting landowners with management of forests, wildlife, their land and all its resources. The principle on which the company is based has never changed – conservation of the resource and through that providing the best possible benefits to the landowner. Services furnished to clients in Minnesota and Michigan reflect that philosophy. Tax Relief for Qualified Landowners: SFIA and 2c
Once you have a Forest Stewardship Plan you are entitled to enroll in one of two property tax relief programs offered by the state. The Sustainable Forest Incentive Program (SFIA) makes an annual payment of $7.00 per acre. The 2c Managed Forest Land Program reduces your tax with a new tax category and a new rate of 65%, and holds it there in perpetuity.
